Bonnington in Bloomsbury 92 Southampton Row Bloomsbury ![]() When a far-sighted Scotsman named John Frame decided to build a hotel in Southampton Row in 1911 he drew on the very latest technology. The structure was steel and concrete, it was centrally heated throughout, the windows were double glazed and there were lifts to all floors. He called it the 'Bonnington', a reminder of the spectacular falls on his native river Clyde. With 200 comfortable bedrooms, imposing lounges and a splendid dining room it was acclaimed as something new in London - a hotel where, for a modest bed and breakfast charge of five shillings, visitors were treated as valued guests and given a genuine taste of luxury. Since its opening the Bonnington has undergone successive modernisations costing many millions of pounds. But it is still privately owned by the family, and we still believe in treating our guests as friends and making sure they enjoy up to the minute standards of comfort at value for money prices. So welcome to the Bonnington... an eighty year tradition awaits you. Category 3star. Number of rooms 15. Rates 91 - 116 GBP. convert |
